Tony winner Mark Rylance is giving a tour de force performance as the larger-than-life Johnny "Rooster" Byron in the Tony-nominated play Jerusalem, so it's more than fitting that Broadway'com's resident artist Justin "Squigs" Johnson has immortalized Rylance's colorful acting in a new portrait. Sporting a kaiser helmet, Rylance is joined by his ragtag group of co-stars (including Tony nominee Mackenzie Crook and John Gallagher Jr,. plus Alan David, Aimeé-Ffion Edwards, Danny Kirrane, Molly Ranson and Charlotte Mills.) Take a look at Squigs' illustration, then be sure to plan your own field trip to Jerusalem at the Music Box Theatre.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Photo by Matthew Murphy
